The first home game of the Betfred Super League season against Wakefield Trinity this Friday 1st March will see the launch of this new scheme with Rhinos reducing their waste and becoming more environmentally friendly. Fans can look forward to three Leeds Rhinos heritage designs on the new reusable cups, featuring images of ex-players and club legends through the years, including Kevin Sinfield MBE and Jamie Peacock MBE, as well as classic Rhinos blue and amber designs. The one-pint cups are available on all bars at Emerald Headingley Stadium (with the exception of the Long Bar) for a £1 deposit. Every subsequent drink will then be poured into a clean, reusable cup. When the supporter has finished drinking, they can either take the Rhinos cup home as a souvenir or return it to a cup refund point in exchange for their deposit back. Leeds Rhinos are thrilled to work with Green Goblet Ltd who supply the reusable cups and proud to be the first Super League club to ‘pass’ on single-use plastic. By making the switch to Green Goblet reusables, Leeds Rhinos are playing their part in making the planet greener, stopping thousands of single-use plastic cups being thrown into landfill where it takes hundreds of years for them to degrade. Disposable plastic can take over 500 years to degrade but can also cause contamination in our water systems, threatening marine life and entering our food chains – affecting human health. Green Goblet are glad to have Leeds Rhinos on board, helping spread their message of “Refill Not Landfill.” By using the eco cups on match day, Rhinos supporters are not only contributing to reducing plastic waste, but will also get a sturdier cup to drink from meaning less spillage; and of course, fans can choose to keep their cup as a souvenir to take home! Look out for the reusable cups at Friday’s match. Tickets are selling well for the home opener at Emerald Headingley but are still available to book in advance. Book tickets online at tickets.therhinos.co.uk or call the Ticket Office on 0371 423 1315 to buy in advance and save £3 on match day prices as well as securing your place at what is sure to be a home opener to remember at Emerald Headingley Stadium.
